Would you also have a link for the first part about US farmers? I could only find https://www.nass.usda.gov/Newsroom/2026/03-31-2026.php which is more specifically about less corn being planted.

@floe@hci.social Do I do not, have heard it several times but long ago forgot where. Note that less corn being planted reduces the source crop that feeds everything from the meat industry to high fructose corn syrup (as in soda etc) to ethanol in gas. That's right: food and fuel in competition when both are short. On top of all else, US trade deals have forced other countrieds to buy US corn instead of growing their own-but this problem is going to be global anyway, Corn is one of the worst crops for the US-or the world- to have a bad year in.
