With the continued hype around AI coding tools at companies everywhere, I’m left wondering about one thing:

AI tools currently use the same languages and build tools that coders have used for the last decades. Meaning, if you cancel your AI subscription, you still have some degree of ownership about the code (practical ownership, legal problems aside). No matter how verbose and overly complicated the AI-generated codebase might be, you as a coder can still do some work in there and continue to run the code. But: Wouldn’t it make more sense for AI vendors to lock you into their ecosystem by doing away with open tooling around software? I have a feeling we might soon see some special „AI language“ that’s totally unfeasible for humans to use. Probably sold as „efficiency improvement“ and „token usage optimization“. What do you think, has anyone here already seen something in that direction? #llm #ai #claude #generativeAI #coding
