⚠️ Today, Norwegian Consumer Council and @noybeu@mastodon.social filed a legal complaint against Schibsted, one of Norway’s largest commercial news publishers, for breaching several provisions of the GDPR. 💵 The complaint follows Schibsted’s introduction of “pay-or-consent” model on its news websites. ☢️ As we have shown in previous research, complaints and court cases, the adtech industry is fundamentally broken and personal data shared into this system is ripe with abuse, and people will easily fall victim to discrimination, manipulation and fraud, among other things. Conclusion : either you share data or you share data. Some sites restrain you for access if you don't consent or subscribe. It starts with "we value your privacy". Rather say "we value your data"
