@mdione@en.osm.town I think Spain in general reflects the density of place names imported from IGN data. Galicia seems to have a very high density of hamlets in particular, many with tiny populations (zero in some cases). In contrast, hamlets are rather far apart in the data around me in Malaga. It doesn't surprise me that if one part of Spain stands out, it would be Galicia, which I have often seen described as having very different settlement patterns from most of Spain. @amapanda@en.osm.town

    @mdione@en.osm.town Those imports date from long before I was involved in OSM. I'm not sure if any of the difference in place density shown for Spain is due to artefacts of the import process, or if it all relates directly to IGN data (which would suggest that some regions really do have far more named places than others). As I mentioned, I could believe Galicia being unusual, but I'm a little surprised at the density in the northern Meseta (between Madrid and Leon, say). @amapanda@en.osm.town
