If you want an idea of how the economy's doing, my wife and are going out to dinner to celebrate that we got cold feet at the same time and decided NOT to buy a house. Even though we found one that we really like and ostensibly could afford. Everything that's going on in the world makes it feel too risky to gamble our life savings when it feels like a major collapse is right around the corner.
