This afternoon, I have the annual #gas check in our house. I still remember the disaster a few years back when the inspector found - a) I had "turned off" the beeping from the smoke detector near the kitchen with the aid of a hammer (the off button wasn't working) b) The gas meter at the front of the house had started spewing out gas Needless to say, my gas was cut off and I had to wait for a British Gas engineer to come out and replace the meter.
