The most important skill for writing a paper is using any and all tricks possible to shorten your sentences so that your paragraphs maximize page use. MS Word leaving massive space at the bottom of a page just because it can't fit two lines (really 1.1 lines, depending on the length of your second line) for the end of your paragraph and instead putting those two lines (really, 1.1 lines) on the next page? So infuriating when you have a strict page limit. There, I said it. #phdlife #research
