I think the rule of thumb is 200 DVDs per terabyte? 250?
When I first considered a media server Drobo was the new hotness.
I couldn’t tell you how Synology or any NAS differs.
I’d want ambient discoverable TV for old TV series (like mindless radio), and intentional viewing for movies.
If I could find that into YouTube snd streaming via Apple TV it would be great.
I have no idea how Plex went south, turned evil, etc.
I have bad habits in handling 5 inch media.

@Chancerubbage@mastodon.social @caseyliss@mastodon.social I was also a DJ in college. I had 1500 CDs burned into iTunes. Never listen to those anymore either. Streaming is just easier. I am glad I have them sitting on a hard drive for when the world turns to shit and we’re back to “The Last of Us”-style societies.
