@amydiehl
My company had a flexible WFH policy pre-pandemic, so we were totally ready for full WFH during pandemic.
When the office reopened post-pandemic, they did an analysis of badge-swipe data and decided it didn't make sense to lease enough office for every Seattle employee to have a reserved cube every day. So they reduced their lease from 4 floors of the building to 1, and replaced assigned cubicles with an online day-to-day workstation reservation system.
Then they eliminated the reservation system and it became festival seating.
Then the CEO (who as far as I know has never actually been to the Seattle office) announced nationwide mandatory RTO.
Now with the combination of the festival seating and the oversubscribed workstations, we all come into the office, but my immediate team can only grab desks onesie twosie scattered across the building and so our "in person collaboration" still ends up being over zoom and slack. Also I have seen my actual direct manager on site maybe twice?
