@waeiski@vis.social I think "lock-in" is the wrong take. The software is better at doing the job i need. I have an investment in the workflow but I'm prepared to relearn that, it's just that nothing else has the functionality. Maybe that is because once they gain commercial advantage they can blow the opposition away by throwing resources at development. An interesting downside of that is MS Office and the Paper Clip - they are in danger of overdoing it - and Photoshop is there now. IMHO.

@waeiski@vis.social Note that at least half of the functionality I'm talking about is workflow/image archive handling - cataloguing, keywording, seamless inter-program integration with plugins, etc. Editing an image is the easy bit.
