if you don't want to use any of these SSO options, you're free to just use email
I also honestly don't think you or me are the target audience of Netbird, their core audience are likely companies, particularly startups
companies tend to have Entra/Google/GitHub/M$ accounts already enrolled for every one of their employees
they're likely hoping that one of their employees might stumble upon Netbird, say "hey, that's exactly what we need", click one of the big shiny slopware SSO buttons and try it out in a few minutes instead of fiddling with emails
I also don't think your grandma is the target audience for "an Open Source Zero Trust Networking platform that allows you to create secure private networks for your organization or home"
also where in their marketing do they say that they're focused on being "soverign"? I couldn't find that

@k8ie@toot.mcld.eu actually netbird and co (tailscale etc) have a functionallity that can be used for people where you need to be on vpn 24/7 (due to the supercookie on isp level (utiq in EU)). It's allow a remote access without needing to know your ip or open anything in the firewall. Allowing to self host home, even without needing to tweak your vpn.
