@bjb@fosstodon.org This was made two years after the famous jury film 12 Angry Man, and reflects a similar dynamic. In that film, and at that time generally, a LOT of people smoked. A still from the film show THREE large ashtrays on the jury table.

@wesdym@mastodon.social I remember that time. The distress looking at the picture is more remembered than imagined. My parents smoked at home. It wasn't like the picture at home, but we did sometimes go to social events like that. Or go for a drive in a car with smokers. That was the worst.
