Yesterday's blackout in Portugal was really eye opening. Here are a few random thoughts. I am thankful that my home wifi is on a battery that lasts at least a day. I never heard the term "black start" before yesterday. Apparently that is the process to restart the grid after everything is offline. No matter how much you prepare for extreme situations you can't control everything. You need a lot of personal luck. I am glad I wasn't in an elevator or underground on the metro.
