The cloud promised resilience,
zones upon zones of abstraction.
When it fell, it fell everywhere at once,
an outage wide as belief.
Backups slept beside production,
replicated faithfully into ruin.
Runbooks assumed the network existed.
The network did not.
Encryption endured, unbroken and pure,
guarding data no one could reach.
Compliance was immaculate.
Availability was a rumour.
And in the ruins, auditors will ask:
Was this risk accepted?
We will nod,
scroll,
and open a new ticket.
