So I think I might be under-eating? It’s a strange concept for me, given I’ve been overweight for a good two decades and also am actually struggling to shed the extra fat. But that is very likely due to MCAS fucking with my system and hEDS/MCAS fucking with my exercise schedule.
I’ve never counted calories, I just don’t have the patience for that. But the last few days I’ve been trying to track my food intake with the Pump App, Arnie’s workout app which has a pretty intuitive, chill way for tracking. I was surprised to noticed that, unless I’m wildly underestimating my portions, I am nowhere near hitting my targets. And I’m not just talking about protein goals. I’m not hitting carb targets either, even with logging anything sugary I consume as a carb.
I think partially the problem is that I’m struggling to get up in the morning and by the time I finally have breakfast I don’t just feel hungry but also weak in the way that not getting enough protein has made me feel weak ever since I started testosterone. So I try to ignore that I feel too weak to do anything and have some breakfast. Usually a cucumber with a decent portion of protein (cheese or tuna and mayo) and a protein shake. Unfortunately by that time, my ADHD meds kick in as well and my appetite is pretty fucked and I feel too full. So then I spend the rest of the day not eating because everything seems too meh unless I actively force myself to eat. At least I hydrate well but that also takes up space in my stomach. idk how I get so absurdly full these days when I’m not eating that much!
In the evening the meds wear off and I have a fairly big dinner, end up feeling too full without ever hitting my targets, and then I go to bed too late. Rinse and repeat. Snacking regularly during the day seems the way to go, but between not having an appetite and feeling too full and also having executive dysfunction, I don’t manage it every day.
Sorry, this is so long and rambling but I’m trying to work through this and if anyone has input, I’d love to hear it. I can’t have gluten and I do really bad with dairy so it’s limited intake only. Go-to snacks are apples with peanut butter, mixed nuts and raisins, coconut-based yogurt with fruit and perhaps some cornflakes. Anyone got ideas? Especially other transmascs on testosterone? Or some gym nuts?
Boosts okay.
