Thank god for the stranger who happened to be there and opened to the door for me while I was going "wtf".
We talked a bit about the app and he said "it's such a hassle" and we left it at that.
This is what things are like now I guess, a hassle for no reason whatsoever.
I still have the key fob!

oh and if you rent a storage box there and don't have a phone, on you or at all... well tough luck, I guess?
