I think the underlying crux of misogyny is about getting away from mom. That's part of individuating - leaving home as an adult and mom is no longer in charge of your life. I think having a female at the helm feels infantilizing for many. No one wants to be bossed around by a woman because we're all trying to get away from mom to prove we're free individual adults. 2/8

Dad, on the other hand, is this distant figure. Either he was always away at work or in some battle or left because of divorce and was never there at all. He gets mythologized. He shows up, if he shows up at all, and lays down the law and the children cower in terror. But he leaves the majority of the messy business of child rearing realities to the mother. He's too busy to be bothered with it and might even get abusive if bothered too much with it. 3/8
