@chosunone@pleroma.chosunone.io I also strongly disagree with his opinion of graded readers btw. I found Brian Smith’s German series to be extremely good. Because it’s not just lazy and overly pedantic. It’s actually like a full length set of books written in a normal style. The “grading” is only of the vocabulary and (to some extent) grammatical complexity. It also comes with audio so it’s easy to consume multiple ways.

@chosunone@pleroma.chosunone.io But yeah… the biggest level up to my Korean understanding was binge watching all of the 3 biggest kids shows, and both reading and watching all of Dragonball. Can I sound like an impatient adolescent? Sure! But I’ve also done business deals. So I totally agree with the author’s opinion on this being effective.
