TIL (old news, I just learned today): Salvador actually agreed to house 300 deportees at $6M a year (or about $20,000/deportee/year). Salvador GDP per capita is $5,300 per year. I will have to say, *this* is how you profit from geopolitics, not forcing countries in war to sign away minerals that you can't mine. Meanwhile, who tf from Department of States negotiated this agreement? Or did ICE negotiate this? Where are DOGE when you need them? (In case it's not clear, this is shockingly inhumane, unconstitutional, and wasteful. The only historical comparison I could think of is Hitler diverted military resources to gas the Jews before getting defeated by Moscow.) #politics #doge
