@stib @publius In fact, having compared the fit of Whitworth and UNC bolts, most photography equipment has a 1/4" UNC thread: Whitworth bolts are a little grindy in it.

@tienelle @stib My experience is that fitting UNC 1/4-20 hardware to 1/4-20 camera mounts results in seizing or binding. I thought I knew why. Now I am confused again!
