@philiph@hachyderm.io @furicle@mastodon.social Now I'm wondering where most of the Lenovo monitors are sold, and also how many other monitors have had fixed serials since the start (so businesses have never built up the pressure to make them all work, since their asset management has never been able to trust those serials).

@philiph@hachyderm.io @furicle@mastodon.social We pull system DMI information into our metrics system, across both server hardware and more DIY locally built stuff from parts. The server hardware pretty much all reports serial numbers and other unique stuff. The consumer/etc motherboards are much more variable and less trustworthy, even thought they do theoretically have (MB) serial numbers.
