@furicle@mastodon.social according to Wikipedia the monitor edid info includes the essential number so it should be possible to uniquely identify a given monitor.

@philiph@hachyderm.io I tried Nirsoft's Monitor Info View On my desktop LG montiors they both show a blank for serial number in #EDID info. A random Acer monitor I had handy clearly showed a serial #. So yeah, looks like the monitors themselves are to blame. Still wish something like XRandR was possible in #Windows... https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/monitor_info_view.html
