@TwoClownsEating@beige.party From my POV the jealousy is for both the compliment and her lack of fuck giving about it. It’s taken me this long in life to start to worry less about all the hair and makeup stuff I was taught to worry about. The confidence is better than it was a decade ago, but it’s still a work in progress. I do go out without hair or makeup done now, which would appal my Mum, but not for an “out out” IYKWIM.

@shezza_t@mastodon.ie Mrs B was a tomboy. Her Mum dearly wanted a girly girl but every pretty dress came back tattered and torn. She rejected all that early on, which was lucky for me, as I bagged a low maintenance beauty who didn't expect me to be absorbed in how I look. I understand the societal pressure for women to appear as perfect as they can be, in the eyes of others (men and women). Those are heavy chains, usually put on during childhood, often by parents as well as society. You can just fuck it all off. Will certain people not like it? Probably. Fuck them. Life's too short. If you like a bit of lippy and fancy nails, crack on, just do it for you, because nobody else cares as much as you do, and if they do, they can fuck off because it's none of their fucking business.
