Not a super advanced knitter. However the only way I've done it involves felting. Which changes the texture a lit. Also depends entirely on the kind of wool - anything super wash or synthetic won't felt.

@RedRobyn@mastodon.nz it’s merino, cashmere, and nylon. I don’t know if the nylon in there makes it unshrinkable
