@neauoire@merveilles.town @gdc@typo.social and if we’re going that route, with path-based fonts, it’d be nice to have something that can print to pen plotters as well

@xaxalxe@sunny.garden @neauoire@merveilles.town My initial idea was to just send high resolution bitmaps to the printer. It works, but so far with my testing, vector data just produces much crisper results, which matters a lot for the readability of body text. For certain zine purposes where the quality is expected to be a bit rougher and type size can be a bit larger, bitmaps should be just fine. But for me, producing PDFs is good enough because I know I can potentially send that to a professional printing house and face no issues, while the idea of trying to tap straight into the printer drivers / rasterizers sounds like a a lot of work for little reward. On the other hand, that's also exactly why I'm experimenting with the single stroke fonts, so that I could use plotters instead.

@xaxalxe@sunny.garden @neauoire@merveilles.town @gdc@typo.social I’m not sure that it’s still the case. Modern printers doesn’t accept postcript directly
