Apropos of nothing, I was just thinking about the April Fool’s joke a few years back where pfSense announced they were switching their underlying OS from FreeBSD to Linux. Some people were excited, others mad or confused, and nobody thought it was funny. To my knowledge they never made any public attempt at damage control even after it became clear that people were taking it way too seriously.
