@ahltorp@mastodon.nu @albertojavier@universeodon.com @rrustema020@mastodon.nl Commercial trucks with a GVWR above 26k lbs generally *do* have speed limiters, though, because high speeds at the weights that semis typically carry, for example (semis are 80k lbs GVWR typically) would be *absolutely* catastrophic in a crash, and also, at least in the US although I assume licensing is similar elsewhere too, anything with a GVWR above 26k lbs needs a CDL to drive. (the fact that an average Joe can legally drive something with a GVWR one or two pounds shy of needing a CDL is scary in itself, for instance, the max GVWR allowed on a normal license in the US is 26k lbs, and 26,001lbs and higher triggers CDL requirements; anyone could go out right now and rent a U-haul that's only two pounds shy of needing a CDL, at 25,999 lbs GVWR, just to move house, that's legitimately kinda frightening)

What else is the stated reason for having work vehicles, if not for commercial purposes? And set speed limits that are appropriate for *all* work vehicles.

@dfx4509b@mas.to @ahltorp@mastodon.nu @rrustema020@mastodon.nl here is where I believe many dudes in north america get their much needed testosterones.. it's the authorities who don't force brands and dealers to warn the little dudes about poor visibilities and handling characteristics; then police see the behaviors on the road and do nothing where there should have been enhanced penalties for improperly driving this type vehicles.
