@deviantollam@defcon.social @defcon@defcon.social I agree the acknowledgment of the incident and "owning up" to it seems to show some level of sincerity. However, if the ulterior motive was to secure a speaker badge or garner favor for next year, it was a poor and manipulative decision.

@BillyJBryant@defcon.social @defcon@defcon.social Right, that's why I think the appropriate path forward is for this person to not actually get the benefits that would have been coming to them if that was their plan. I don't want to think that was their plan, I think this sounds like they foolheartedly tried something and got in over their head quickly... But either way, owning up to it is a good first step.
