I don't expect BBC reporters to have physics degrees or anything but *some* understanding of how temperatures work would help..

The mirror have also reported this verbatim.. so I went looking. If you read the quote in Florida Today it makes sense, because there are no units and an American would be talking to reporters in F. So by 'helping' the british reporters created nonsense.
