@ghostsnwitches@post.lurk.org yeah but i think it's because kyocera is mainly selling in the US not in japan... i'm new to trying to understand frequency bands compatibility but here's a screenshot from the 'unlocked kyocera dura' spec, and another from frequencycheck.com for belgium. It doesn't seem like the kyocera support 2G (GSM), neither 4G or 5G, but it does LTE (which i understood being a pseudo-4G). lol my understanding of all this is so approximate.

@doriane@post.lurk.org ah, I thought 4G was essentially LTE? Honestly my understanding is also very appromximate. I think you're right though, you do have UMTS1 for 3G but it seems dicey to rely solely on one band, especially with 3G being phased out. Another option in the same vein is the Cat S22 Flip, it's literally marketed for construction workers! But it does have Google services built-in (it's an american product...)

@doriane@post.lurk.org @ghostsnwitches@post.lurk.org I thought LTE was just another name for 4G? Still, possible they use different frequencies. I remember hearing some good things about the Caterpillar (🐛) rugged phone, that seems kinda similar to the Dura in concept. But that was a few years ago, it's worth checking if the "good things" are still true ;) (https://www.reddit.com/r/dumbphones/ used to be my reference for these things)
