@Starry1086@wandering.shop I know what you mean! I feel like the author drops in info they don't really develop earlier on? I confess, the characters I was most interested in in this book--the aiyi, Vo, Suddharma, and the aliens--are what I felt I got the least of, and it would have added so much depth to know them all more as a contrast to the more readily identifiable Xns or etc. (if that makes sense).

@handmade_ghost@sunny.garden Hmmm, yeah. I was wondering for days when it was that Suddharma and John talked about John potentially inflicting "brain damage" and I just found it at the start of Chapter 7. Disadvantage of reading the audiobook: not being able to search. My favorite character is Iren (I keep imagining it spelled as Irène but that seems a rather gendered name for them to take.)
