Was there a value-add to duplicating all of Debian's installer/packagerepo/rapid cybersecurity response efforts to create a forked distribution, rather than simply using Debian's existing infrastructure and contributing the latest ham software to Debian?
I think a lot of Linux users would rather *not* trust yet-another hobbyist-level distribution, and would prefer simply to see well-maintained and cutting-edge packages for JS8Call, FreeDV, CHIRP, QDMR, etc. in Debian proper instead.

@fossham@mastodon.radio you have the wrong end of the stick - I’m one of the core members of the Debian hamradio team and this is using the Debian stable and backport repositories almost exclusively. I am using the Debian tooling that we use to produce our live image and customising that slightly. I have my own repo for packages I would not distribute in Debian for whatever reason as an extension and that’s the only major modification. I thought I’d been quite clear about the fact that I don’t want to deviate from my existing work to minimise extra work I need to do to maintain this. Almost everything here is drawn from my upstream work apart from the bits that don’t quite move fast enough.
