Haven't we seen this "replace developers thing" before? My buddy @trishagee flagged this article from Stephan Schwab cataloging the claims over the years, Jevon's Paradox, and keeping humans and thinking in the loop. https://www.caimito.net/en/blog/2025/12/07/the-recurring-dream-of-replacing-developers.html

  • @pauleveritt @trishagee I'm ready to sell my likeness to AI if it comes with a large paycheck. My likeness will have open eyes because the prompt will say "Khalid doesn't blink, ever!”

  • @pauleveritt @trishagee "Why We've Tried to Replace Developers Every Decade Since 1969?" There's no need for reams of writing in order to answer that question. There's only one answer: bosses, i.e. people who don't work for a living, hate spending even a penny on people who *do* work for a living. They'd rather coerce the world into accepting the automated extrusion of LLM gibberish than spend money on supporting a workforce, because they regard paying workers a living wage as *wasteful*.
