@wwahammy@social.treehouse.systems I don’t think nVidia deserves much blame here. For one nVidia doesn’t hype up ai that much. They do capitalize on it, sure. Also no layoff ever was framed as “we spent too much on chips for ai”, it’s always “ai replaced them”, which it almost certainly didn’t. In this whole thing nVidia is probably the only one who delivers promised product. Their chips actually do multiple huge matrices faster than anyone else. What those multiplications used for is a different story.
