@cato@chaosfurs.social @pheeef@chaos.social I fear that eventually, all weird and wonderful display technology currently in use in the public transport sector will be replaced by full-color high-resolution LCD/OLED screens ;(

@cato@chaosfurs.social @pheeef@chaos.social the Chinese have a interesting way with displays, starting with combining different coloured (not RGB!) P10 LED panels in a single display and seemingly ending with a PC as the controller :D

@cato@chaosfurs.social @pheeef@chaos.social Gather around me, kids, I have an interesting story from the stone age of IT: German fair CeBIT around 2005. The mobile carrier O2 had an extremely cool booth with a roof that consisted of what I remember as being ~200sqm of acrylic columns, each rgb lit. It was, in fact, a VGA display and while setting it up, I got to see what was most likely the world's biggest Windows XP error message at the time.I'll need to try and find a picture of that booth, it was extremely impressive.
