An issue that confronts the would-be urban walker determined to traverse a megacity from one boundary to the other: do you outfit and equip yourself for ordinary urbanity, or for the walk? I’m halfway minded to adopt some of the practices and tactics I use in #ultrarunning and #ultralight hiking, but by the same token poles and hydration bladders and so on stick out like a sore thumb. You want to be able to move through crowds, duck into bodegas, pet the local cats, etc.

@adamgreenfield@social.coop If you’re interested in people who are doing this kind of thing I did a lot of research when we were setting up Walkspace a few years back. Lots of stuff from around the country that isn’t beholden to Sinclair et al. Let me know and I’ll dig out some stuff.

@adamgreenfield@social.coop There are a feww taking place already. Calum Kerr was running one set that traversed different parts of London looking at interesting rubble. Another set was running that started from Southwark Graveyard. They do some excellent remembrance ceremonies towaeds Samhain. Another one that I heard about from other members of London Hackspace, was looking at the industrial archeology found in London's archotecture. :D
