Wyze, a chief competitor to Ring cameras wasted no time in releasing a roast of their rival's self own.
There need to be some asterisks in this burn though. To get full functionality out of your Wyze cams, you still need to send the footage to Wyze. You need Wyze servers to view your live feeds or to do smart detection, but you can indeed record straight to SD card and keep the video entirely local. You can also do basic motion sensing without passing the feed to Wyze.
One of their discontinued models can function entirely with no Internet. It's their Outdoor v2 cameras. Those cameras work off of their own base station and have a travel mode that allows you to tap into the live feed directly.
I'm not sure if their other models have anything equivalent.
Unfortunately, Wyze mainly sells through Amazon, but there are plenty of second hand kits available on eBay including refurbished units directly from Wyze.
