@drwho@masto.hackers.town @raymaccarthy@mastodon.ie @Hex@kolektiva.social I see in all of this very little is said of the roots of real symbolic AI capabilities, i.e. Charles Sanders Peirce in 1892. Yet it reemerges in mid 1980s work on expert systems in medical diagnostics. This propensity to try to replace humans with a technology that cannot by definition do so (e.g. language models) is totally irrational. The mercantile classes appear to have overextended themselves, and "AI" is a pseudo-religion to some now. Bring on the market crash.
