@raymaccarthy@mastodon.ie absolutely, it's mostly an attempt to suppress wages and cover for COVID over-hiring and LLM investment failure. But also, most of what people do is busy work. It's bullshit jobs, even including people who do highly skilled work that can't be replaced by LLMs. Leadership that has invented so much bullshit work can not tell the difference between bullshit and real work, because they are wildly incompetent. They can't tell the difference between well done work and garbage, because they have no depth of knowledge. They do actually have room to trim, but they don't realize that the economy isn't about making stuff. It's about keeping people in the system. All of these things are colliding at once. 🍿
