Colleagues working on an "agentic AI swarm" to slowly build out skills to eventually work at a junior-employee-level for most jobs in the company. Working with an "ehhh trust me guyyy" verbal discussion/agreement with higher-ups that it will only be used to empower employees rather than replace them. The people I'm working with are smart people otherwise, too. There's only like one other person in the team who, like me, seems not partially, but wholly uncomfortable with the idea. I feel like I'm in a parody. #antiai #ai #aislop

More than that though, they're building it "properly" with skills, roles, use of MCP servers, etc. Again, they're smart people who know how to do a good job. But they're hitting the classic case of sometimes the agents just "do stuff" that's outside of what they've been carefully asked to do regardless, so more and more work is needed to contain them better. I'm reminded of this evergreen xkcd comic: https://xkcd.com/1319/ The fact that this is the hover-over text for this comic is also hilariously relevant: 'Automating' comes from the roots 'auto-' meaning 'self-', and 'mating', meaning 'screwing'. #antiai #ai #aislop
