@mlanger@mastodon.world @gglockner@social.seattle.wa.us it isn't illegal for them to do it. The only thing you can do is block known scrappers and then put annoying JavaScript challenges in front of sites.
(That is why you are seeing more of them)

@mlanger@mastodon.world @gglockner@social.seattle.wa.us also keep in mind that most hosting providers don't allow you to easily block or manage block lists. htaccess is one way, but it's pretty much a last line of defense.

@bhhaskin@social.bitsofsimplicity.com @gglockner@social.seattle.wa.us I visit a handful of sites that have some sort of cloudflare feature that supposedly checks the browser to see if it's a robot. It doesn't ask me anything, but it does take a few seconds to process.
