@elliek@halifaxsocial.ca end to end encryption protects the contents of messages but doesn't protect intimate metadata (like profile info, who's talking to whom, etc.). WhatsApp uses end to end encryption for messages, but doesn't protect metadata. Signal protects both.

@Mer__edith@mastodon.world which is exactly why I use it and support it. I will be sorry to lose my UK contacts. Will they be able to use it anyway if they use a VPN?
