Google Fiber announced that they would be splitting from Google and merging with another broadband company to become 'gfiber'. I'm mad at Google for not continuing to invest in google fiber over the last 10 years, but I'm slightly optimistic that a company with broadband as its focus can deliver on this more effectively than what was effectively a hobby for a company of Google's size. https://fiber.google.com/blog/2026/03/gfiber-and-stonepeaks-astound-to.html
