@gmoke@mastodon.social @fraying@xoxo.zone When I first read this, before the Trump thing had really taken off, I thought that Mr A - L were brilliantly crafted fictions.
Re-reading this, after all that has happened in the world since, and especially in the UK where I live — I'm thinking these were real people. But I recognise the types; I see them on the news.

@fishidwardrobe@mastodon.me.uk @fraying@xoxo.zone Dorothy Thompson, who interviewed Hitler in Germany and got roughed up at a Bund rally in NYC's Madison Square Garden, didn't make up any of her characters. It was pure reportage.
