TIL: CD jewel cases are made of polystyrene plastic. that's resin code #6 in the recycling symbol. unfortunately, this means they are generally not recycled. Polystyrene is usually seen as either a hard, brittle plastic (e.g. CD jewel cases and many plastic cups and dishes and cutlery), or foam, commonly called "styrofoam" (which is actually a trademark name, but one that's basically genericized at this point). #recycling #plastics #PlasticsRecycling
