@ninapaley@spinster.xyz Yeah, my neighborhood was built in the 50s/60s too, and we've lost alot of oaks and maples in the last couple of years. The Sweet Gums are starting to go too. My city does have a home repair/maintenance fund for low income seniors that does include tree maintenance so maybe yours does also, worth checking if the city or county has something similar.

@ninapaley@spinster.xyz Tree services are expensive, hiring the arborist is a great idea - minimize take- down but optimize if you’re having to get ones removed anyway. Ask arborist for recommendations or ask neighbors.

@ninapaley@spinster.xyz our first family house was built in 1957 we bought it in 1959. I much preferred MY first family house, built in 1948, which was solid AF with real 2x4s and wood framing.
