So it's been about 6 months since I moved to California from Tokyo, and exploring the healthcare system here and comparing it to what I'm used to is so crazy to me. On one hand every part of the patient-doctor relationship, service, treatment and even technology is better than in Tokyo.

    On the other hand I have no clue how much I'm going to be required to pay and whether a visit is going to be insanely expensive or totally free. It's like everyone worked hard so that things are as complicated as possible. (and this is with one of the best insurances, allegedly)

    @inket@mastodon.social Everything about the healthcare system in the US is great except for the way it's funded. My experience with healthcare in Japan (20 years ago) was fairly bad, but at least it didn't bankrupt me. How are you liking the US beyond healthcare?
