The Butlerian Jihad famously includes the phrase
"Thou shalt not make machines in the likeness of a human mind"
But if I were starting off today, I would say "thou shalt not force the human mind into the likeness of a machine"

@trochee@dair-community.social literature students in a couple hundred years are going to see such a sharp division between the 20th and 21st centuries. We used to be afraid of making something smarter than us when we should have been afraid of making something that sharply dropped our collective intelligence.
