Hugh White noted re #AUKUS: "nuclear powered subs as the answer is flawed on both a technical & strategic rationale". I would add AUKUS is even more flawed on economic grounds, whereby approx $400 billion is to be spent on US controlled submarines which may (or may not) be available to use for threatening #China in about 20-30 years. $400 billion would go a long way to addressing some of Australia's near intractable problems, like the housing shortage etc. #auspol #alp https://johnmenadue.com/why-has-there-been-no-credible-media-narrative-justifying-aukus/
