There's a case to be made for the armour designs, for example. Just because something is "mythology" doesn't mean that there wouldn't be expectations.
Personally I feel the more important part to "accuracy" is intentional vs. unintentional changes. You want the armour to be black even though the history department disagrees? Go for it. But if they're also in jeans and flipflops, the director probably isn't trying and should be called out for it.

At least until their* performance is under review, but that's a different topic. _ * Don't know their pronouns, but feel that this is always a safe choice.
